Deck Staining & Sealing
UV-blocking stains and sealants that protect wood for 3–5 seasons.

About deck staining & sealing
An untreated deck loses 30% of its lifespan to every year of UV and moisture exposure. A proper stain and seal locks moisture out, blocks UV, and keeps the wood feeling new for 3–5 seasons before it needs a refresh.
Our deck crews pressure-wash, brighten, and sand every board before stain goes down. We apply with brushes and pads — never with a roller alone — to drive stain into the grain.
What's included
- Pressure-wash with deck-safe cleaner
- Apply oxalic-acid wood brightener to restore color
- Sand rough boards and feather any prior finish
- Replace any rotted boards or popped fasteners (extra)
- Brush-apply two coats of premium stain or sealant
- Treat railings, posts, and stair stringers
- Final walkthrough and care instructions
Our process
- 1
Free in-home estimate
A senior estimator walks the project with you, measures the scope, and returns an itemized fixed-price quote — usually within 24 hours.
- 2
Surface prep
We patch, sand, caulk, and prime every surface to the manufacturer's spec. Prep is what makes a finish last — we don't cut it short.
- 3
Premium application
Two finish coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald or Benjamin Moore Aura, applied by master painters using sprayers, brushes, and rollers matched to each surface.
- 4
Walkthrough & warranty
You inspect the finished work alongside the crew lead. Anything you flag gets touched up on the spot — then your 10-year workmanship warranty kicks in.
Why homeowners choose us
Brushed, not just sprayed
Stain that's brushed into the grain lasts twice as long as stain that's just sprayed on the surface. We do both.
UV-blocking pigment
We default to semi-transparent stains with maximum UV-blocking pigment — the right balance of color and grain visibility.
Honest expected life
Decks are not 10-year finishes. We tell you up front — expect a maintenance coat in 3–5 years on horizontal surfaces.

Frequently asked questions
+Stain or sealant — which is better?
Clear sealant is the lightest treatment and lasts 1–2 years. Semi-transparent stain adds color and UV blocking and lasts 3–5 years. Solid stain looks like paint and lasts 5–7.
+How soon after pressure washing can you stain?
Wood needs 48–72 hours to fully dry before stain. We schedule pressure wash and stain on separate days.
+Can you replace rotted boards?
Yes — board replacement is a separate line item on the quote. New boards stain to match within one season.
+What's included in the warranty?
Every job carries our 10-year workmanship warranty. If the finish peels, blisters, or cracks within ten years, we return and re-coat the affected area at no charge.
+What paints do you use?
Sherwin-Williams Emerald and Benjamin Moore Aura by default. Zero-VOC alternatives (Natura, Harmony) are available at no upcharge.
+Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — fully licensed in every state we serve, with $2M general liability and workers' comp on every crew.
